Crushin’ on ICW Rieslings!

With spring on its way, we’re excited to share with you Wine Press NW’s ’12 Summer issue where they tasted through several of the top NW rieslings and featured their top-rankings …3, that’s right THREE of our rieslings earned wonderful reviews! We’re also proud that Idaho fared so well, overall, in this issue. Go Idaho!  Our current riesling we are tasting at the winery right now is our 2010 White Riesling and it earned an “Excellent” ranking with a review shown below. Soon we’ll be releasing the 2011 White Riesling, which took the top “Outstanding” honor and a review that makes you want to open a bottle right NOW! 😉 Writers Andy & Eric mention “Circus Peanut candy” which is ironic because they used to be Mike’s favorite road-trip candy as a kid, a bit nostalgic.

The third SWEET (pun intended) review is on our 2011 Ragin’ Rapids Sweet Riesling which we are currently tasting and selling at the winery. These reviews are really making me want to pop open a bottle…it’s after noon, technically, so I see no reason not to! 😉 Year after year, our rieslings tend to be consistent and fare well at competitions. Riesling grapes grow well here in the Snake River Valley, especially at our Estate Stowe Vineyards. Warm days and cool summer nights encourage wonderful acidity levels in the grapes, with just a touch of residual sugar we can achieve a nicely balanced & crisp riesling. Our riesling pairs excellently with fresh summer fare, light dishes and the Ragin’ Rapids’ sweetness is a nice coolant for spicy dishes and desserts.
