Vineyard

In 1982 Bill and Mui Stowe, along with their kids, Will and Greg began planting the Stowe Vineyard. The first planting consisted primarily of Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Although since the original planting we have added more Pinot Noir, Syrah and Muscat Canelli. Currently, the vineyard is a little over 15 acres.

The Stowe Vineyard is at 44 degrees latitude and has an elevation of 2,626 feet. The growing season is ideal: long, sunny and warm. During the growing season there is very minimal precipitation and the high desert climate means that the nights are very cool. The soil is silty loam, generously mixed with caliche (limestone). The soils lie on cracked basalt, creating an extremely well drained vineyard site.
