Mother’s Day Wine Tasting

Sunday was the 2oth annual Mothers Day Wine Tasting event out at Sawtooth Winery. This event was originally set up by Brad Pintler (Sawtooth), Bill Stowe (Indian Creek), Cheyne Weston (Weston), and Steve Robertson (Hells Canyon). The four of them were responsible for everything that went into it. This year the four guys handed over the baton to the crew at Sawtooth Estate Winery, and they did a wonderful job. It can be a daunting job organizing an event as big as the Mothers Day Wine Tasting but Sawtooth Winery ran it with very few, if any, hiccups. Well Done.
The tasting itself was by far the largest Mothers Day I had been to (the last four) and the largest Tom has been to (the last 11) as well. The wine tent was packed elbow to elbow for a solid 4 hours. Although I’m sure this may have been frustrating for some, I think most people had a great time tasting wonderful wines and talking directly with the winemakers, something that the growing Idaho wine industry offers that very few other wine growing regions do.
We had a great time as well seeing some faces that we see every year at the event as well as new ones. The crowd seemed to enjoy the wines so much that, at the Indian Creek table, we sold out of our 2008 White Pinot Noir in about 2 hours. After a quick call to the winery, Bill Stowe brought over a few more cases. Unfortunately we sold out of that about 20 min later. Next year we will bring more wine 🙂
Here are a few photos I took during the day:

Who let this guy through the gate? Terri and  Scott Nicholson try some of Syringa’s wines

The crowd outside the wine tasting tent. Note the beautiful weather and smiles on everyone’s faces.

There was more than just wine. Here is local artist Suzanne Lee Chetwood showing off her beautiful artwork and jewelry.

Everybody enjoyed the delicious cooking of Porterhouse.

Donya Marie’s was there as well with some tasty chocolates and other goodies. I tried to get over and say hi to her a couple times but the crowd of chocolate fans was so thick I never did.

Miss Courageous had a wonderful display of her jewelry.
