Lightning

There was a tremendous lightning show at the Stowe Vineyard tonight so I decided to try my hand at lightning photography. This is the first time I have ever shot lightning and one of the few times I have done night photography. The final photo in this series was an incredibly memorable moment. Just after I opened the shutter a lightning bolt struck in the center of the frame, five seconds later a cloud lit up in the upper left corner, another 10 seconds passed and a skimpy litte bolt spread across the sky off to the right, and just before the shutter closed (30 seconds after it was opened) another bolt touched ground just to the left of the first one. After the shutter had closed, the entire 30 seconds was captured as a single moment, the lightning had painted the sky.
